Navigate to the **Admin** area and go to the **Appearance** page.
Under **System header and footer** insert your header message and/or footer message.
Both background and font color of the header and footer are customizable.
Update capitalization in admin, api, others Update capitalization in /administration, /api, /ci and /customization

You can also apply the header and footer messages to GitLab emails,
Remove extra whitespaces in docs Removes all the extra whitespaces at end of lines, inside tags, and removes extra newlines

by checking the **Enable header and footer in emails** checkbox.
Show header and footer system messages in email * Add email_header_and_footer_enabled flag to appearances table * Set email_header_and_footer_enabled default value to false * Add checkbox to appearance to toggle show header and footer in emails * Add email_header_and_footer_enabled to allowed params in controller * Add header and footer messages to the html and text email layouts * Remove the color styling for emails header and footer * Add empty_mailer layout for emails without layout, to have the header and footer applied

Note that color settings will only be applied within the app interface and not to emails

After saving, all GitLab pages will contain the custom system header and/or footer messages:
